Safety barriers on Ashley Road

The red and white safety barriers were installed as a means of ensuring the safety of school children and students entering and leaving the Harris Academy and in response to the volume of traffic operating on Ashley Road on a daily basis. Prior to their installation, the Principal of the Harris Academy had previously raised his concerns about the safety of students and he has very much welcomed the erection of the barriers which are designed to guide pedestrians to a safe crossing point on Ashley Road and Burdock Road via a designated zebra crossing.

Fencing panels have been installed as an additional safety measure and to help deter people from jumping over the barriers. Additional signage has also been put in place to direct pedestrians to the recommended route to the safe crossing point on Ashley Road and Burdock Road.

The barriers remain essential safety measures to help ensure the safety of the school children, students, parents and other pedestrians at all times while the construction works are continuing to be delivered.
